Spring Surprise Proposal

For this week’s session highlight, be ready have your heart totally filled and maybe a shed a happy tear or two for this amazing couple. Normally when I get a request to photograph a proposal it usually comes with me “hiding” at the location so their partner has no idea a photoshoot is even happening. This proposal was a little different and made the night extra special.

Nicole reached out to me to book one of the limited minis I was offering before going on maternity leave. I was so excited to get her request because she told me all about how her and Dan were expecting their first baby, it was also a June baby, and they were having a boy too! Pregnancy is such a funny thing that I feel like people automatically feel a kindred spirit with someone else that has also gone through it. We instantly bonded over the fact that we were due days apart from one another and our love for the OG CSI. Nicole told me that she just wanted to capture this season of life for them especially since they didn’t have any professional photos done together. Obviously I was already so pumped to meet this other mama and capture these moments.

Well, literally the next day after starting to work out the details Dan reached out to me separately about how his girlfriend Nicole was currently booking a session with me but he wanted to propose during it. He told me he had already lined up a whole night of surprises for her and could I make that certain night work. Luckily, Nicole and I hadn’t nailed down a day or time yet so I was able to suggest the day/time that Dan had planned out. Dan and I kept chatting about the plan and how to set up the proposal scene.

Fast forward to the day of their session, I was so excited! When they pulled up I let Nicole introduce Dan to Jack & I. We played it off like we had literally never talked before. Since popping the question can be nerve wracking, we jumped right into it. We did a couple photos to “warm them up” and then I said I had an idea for a cute photo. I wanted them to stand back to back, and when I told her to I wanted Nicole to slowly turn back towards Dan. Little did she know, Dan had dropped down to one knee and had the most beautiful ring out waiting for her. Obviously, she said yes!

And of course, Jack and I cried too.
